Water and Cancer Prevention

There's a lot more to water than quenching our thirst! Drinking plenty of water may reduce the risk of bladder cancer by flushing cancer-causing agents through the bladder faster. The American Cancer Society suggests drinking at least 8 cups of water a day. In a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine that included 47,909 participants during a period of 10 years, researchers found that study participants with the highest fluid intake had a 49% lower incidence of bladder cancer than those participant that took in the least fluid. Water is also being studied as an important part of preventing breast cancer.
