Reducing High Blood Pressure Risks
High blood pressure (HBP) is a very serious condition which affects one in three American adults. It can cause serious health problems, even death. Recent statistics from the Council for High Blood Pressure Research show a marked increase in High Blood Pressure in youth. The same research stated that these alarming trends with HBP are due to lifestyle factors rather than genetics. That means there is a lot you can do to control your blood pressure.
Here are three simple things you can do to achieve or maintain healthy blood pressure:
First, exercise! Regular exercise can lower blood pressure by 10 points. It can even prevent the onset of hypertension.
Second, eat right! A landmark study called Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) showed a diet full of fruits and vegetables, low fat dairy, poultry, fish, nuts and whole grains can lower your blood pressure.
Three, control your weight! Losing 10% of your current weight or even 10 pounds can dramatically reduce your blood pressure.
Maintaining healthy blood pressure is an absolute necessity, these three simple additions to your lifestyle will go a long way to that goal!
