Energy Drinks

The safety of those highly caffeinated energy drinks has come into question lately. A recent study found that energy drinks may boost heart rates and blood pressure levels-which could be bad for your heart! Researchers gave a group of people two cans of energy drinks daily for seven days, and monitored their heart rate and blood pressure. The group's heart rate rose by about 8 percent the first day and 11 percent on the 7th day. Their blood pressure rose by 7 percent the first day and 8 percent on the 7th day. Experts say this may not make a big difference for a healthy person, but could be very serious for people with heart disease or with high blood pressure. Before you grab for a quick-fix energy drink, remember... the best way to get energy is exercise and proper nutrition.
