The Superfood Rainbow
Superfoods are natural foods that are calorie sparse and nutrient dense. They are considered the best sources of anti-oxidants and essential nutrients... and they are super! These foods are powerful enough to help lower cholesterol, reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer, and even improve your mood. And they're great for weight control! They're not exotic or rare, in fact, they're easily found in your neighborhood supermarket. Plus, they look beautiful on the plate!

Red superfoods contain lycopene which is believed to help in fighting lung and prostate cancers. Red superfood includes pink grapefruit, red bell peppers, tomatoes, raspberries, cherries, and watermelon.

Purple superfoods are richin anthocyanins, which ward off heart disease, prevent blood clot formation and may lower the risk of cancer. Add concord grapes, blueberries, prunes, and acai berries to your diet to take advantage of these benefits!

Green superfoods offer multiple protections. They contain lutein, which reduces the risk of stroke and heart disease while guarding against age-related macular degeneration. They're also rich in folate, an added protection against heart disease. Recently studies show that the the phytochemical sulforapane found in green superfoods detoxifies cancer-causing chemicals before they cause damage to the body.
