Making time to exercise
Some days there just doesn't seem to be enough time to exercise. The good news is, there's a lot of exercise time tucked away "in" your day. Here are four things you can do to find 30-60 minutes of exercise each day.
1. Walk! When you go out to the supermarket, post office, or to eat, park far away because those extra steps really do add up!
2. Make the most of your "down time." Do leg lifts while talking on the phone or put a stationary bike in front of the television. Jog in place while waiting for that pot of water to boil for dinner.
3. Clean the house! Vacuuming, sweeping, and raking all work your arm and leg muscles. Doing these three tasks for ten minutes each will burn almost 200 calories, which means you just added a half hour of exercise to your day (not to mention your house will look great!)
4. Develop some creative ways to add a few stretches to your daily tasks -- neck rolls or shoulder stretches while doing dishes; turn on the music while you dust and get a little locomotion going, or work on your balance with some one-legged mopping!
Take on this physical challenge with a creative slant and you'll find all kinds of new ways to fit exercise in every day!
