Light Up Your Life!
Recently, many articles have been written about the sun's ability reduce the risk of cancer. It seems counter-intuitive to the warnings that tell us to use sunscreen.
But, it is true -- exposure to the sun can reduce the risk of cancer -- and at this time of year you're probably not going to suffer from heatstroke! Too much sun obviously boosts your cancer risk -- but new research shows that moderate amounts of sunlight can cut the risk of certain types of cancer. Scientists find that mortality rates for breast, ovarian, and prostate cancer are lower in certain sunny regions. They believe the phenomenon happens because sunlight triggers vitamin production in the body. Lab evidence shows that vitamin d can help limit cancer cells and stop them from spreading!
This is especially important as you get older,
by the time you reach twenty -- vitamin D production drops by about thirty percent.
