A new study from Indiana University found that wearing a pedometer can motivate you to move more! The researchers found pedometers to be especially helpful for those who work at desk jobs. The 12-week study included four men and 22 women between 40 and 66 years who wore a pedometer that tracked their lower leg movements every day during the study, this information was made available to the participants, who were instructed to move more during periods of inactivity. The results? Participants were more physically active and averaged a weight loss of almost 2.5 pounds. Those pedometers? They were the $30 model ... not a bad investment!
