Eating for Healthy Weight Loss
Fasting to lose weight is not only a recipe for being miserable --it ensures you’ll put whatever weight you lose back on!
Fasting decreases blood sugar which makes you feel sick and weak; you end up losing as much muscle as fat. This actually works against your long term goals, because muscle burns calories so when you lose muscle your metabolism slows down. This reduces your ability to lose weight. It can become a never-ending cycle! When you stop fasting and go back to a normal diet, you quickly put back on the weight you lost — and sometimes more! Why? Less muscle means a slower metabolism!
Another factor comes into play when fasting. The human body has a complex system of checks and balances. When you starve yourself
your body thinks you’re really starving! Your body metabolism naturally slows to conserve energy!
The best recipe for weight loss is a healthy diet and 30 to 60 minutes of exercise per day!
