Coping with Cancer
This is a difficult topic, but it’s also a subject that affects or will affect most of us during our lifetimes. Around our planet this year, 11 million people will be diagnosed with cancer; there are now 24 million victims of this disease. The physical and emotional strain on cancer patients, their families and their friends is enormous. This week on Peter’s Principles, we’re going to investigate methods for coping with cancer. We’ll talk about how to address the needs of people with cancer and look at available resources for patients, family, friends and caregivers. Cancer is a terrible disease, whether you or someone you know has been diagnosed with some form of the disease, it’s important to understand how to cope and manage the toll on you and your loved ones.
That's why we’re going talk with some people who are ‘coping with cancer,‘ including Peter’s Principles own producer, Lesley Foster and WJR’s “The Internet Advisor,“ Foster Braun. We‘ll also be joined by Ruth Dein, certified counselor and nurse navigator in the Oncology Services program at Beaumont Hospital. Finally, writer/publisher Ken Wachsberger will talk about his booklet,
Your Partner Has Breast Cancer?: 21 Ways to Keep Sane as a Support Person.
Please join us this week for Peter's Principles.
"Coping with Cancer" airs Sunday, August 1st at 8 p.m. on WJR News/Talk 760 in Detroit.
