Super Seed
Quinoa has gained popularity over the past decade. Known as a superfood, it is high in fiber and protein. In fact, it contains more protein than any other grain while also packing in iron and potassium. One half cup of quinoa has 14 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber. Quinoa is often referred to as a whole grain but is technically considered a gluten free super-seed. Grain or seed, it's a great addition to any nutritional regimen!
- A valuable source of fiber, quinoa actually contains double the amount found in most grains. Fiber helps in the prevention of heart disease by reducing high blood pressure and diabetes, lowers cholesterol and glucose levels, and assists in weight loss by providing a sense of satiety for extended periods of time.
- Quinoa is protein rich. It contains all nine essential amino acids -- a 'complete protein' -- which makes it an excellent addition to any diet.
