Good News for Coffee Lovers

New research indicates that the higher the coffee consumption, the lower the risk for type two diabetes. Scientists aren't quite sure why java is so effective against the disease. But it could be some of the compounds found in the coffee beans! They include caffeine, magnesium and certain types of acids. We already know that caffeine triggers cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. Insulin purges glucose from the blood and moves it into cells where it's converted into energy. Folks with diabetes don't have enough insulin and have a tough time producing glucose. Women drinking four cups a day cut their diabetes risk by 30 percent and ten cups by a whopping 79 percent.  Men drinking four cups a day cut their risk by 27 percent and ten cups by 55 percent! I'm afraid you'll still have to watch those lattes though!
